BROOKLYN VARIATIONS

2002 | INTERACTIVE

A non-linear storytelling experiment to test the conventional notions of dramatic causality. Comprised of 44 separate scenes connected by 10 nodes, the narrative structure and DVD interface drew inspiration from Kabbalah’s Tree of Life. The 10 actors (one/node) developed their characters based on the attributes traditionally associated with points on the diagram. Furthermore, the project’s 10 locations were determined by superimposing the Tree of Life diagram on a map of Brooklyn. The scenes were improvised by the actors and shot in one take.
